A major part of HCBS compliance is using person-centered practices.
A person-centered approach means that services are organized around the individual, not around the convenience of the program or system. Planning and support should begin with the person’s strengths, preferences, goals, culture, communication style, relationships, routines, and desired outcomes.
This means services should focus on “What is important to the person” while balancing with “What is important for the person.”
The goal is not to remove all risk or make every decision for the person. The goal is to support informed choice, dignity of risk, and meaningful participation while addressing health and safety.
All RCEB employees attend a 2-day Person Centered Thinking training taught by trainers certified by The Learning Community for Person Centered Practices.

These trainings are also offered to the vendor community.
